Psalms 10

1 ל Why standest Thou afar··off, O Jehovah?
Why hidest Thou Thyself in times of adversity?

2 In his pride a wicked one chases the afflicted;
let them be caught in the schemes which they have thought out.

3 For a wicked one praises··himself over the lusting of his soul,
and his gain he blesses;
he disdains Jehovah.

4 A wicked one according··to the loftiness of his face inquires· not ·after Him.
There is no God in all of his schemes.

5 His ways travail at all times; Thy judgments are high from in··front··of him;
all are his adversaries; he puffs at them.

6 He says in his heart, I shall not be moved,
to generation and generation, I am he who is not in evil.

7 His mouth is··full of an oath and deceits and fraud;
under his tongue are mischief and iniquity.

8 He sits in ambush in the courts;
in hiding he kills the innocent:
his eyes are··secretly against the unfortunate.

9 He sets··an··ambush in hiding as a lion;
in his shelter he sets··an··ambush to catch the afflicted;
he catches the afflicted when he draws him in his net.

10 He crushes, he bows··down,
and the unfortunate one falls by his numerous ones.

11 He says in his heart, God* has forgotten;
He hides His face, He will not see it perpetually.

12 ק Arise, O Jehovah;
O God, lift··up Thy hand:
forget not the afflicted.

13 Why does one who is wicked disdain God?
He says in his heart, Thou wilt not inquire··after me?

14 ר Thou seest; for Thou lookest··upon mischief and provocation,
to give with Thy hand;
the unfortunate one leaves himself unto Thee;
Thou art a helper to the orphan.

15 ש Break Thou the arm of the wicked;
and as for one who is evil, inquire··after his wickedness until Thou findest nothing.

16 Jehovah is King to eternity and forever;
the nations have perished from His land.

17 ת The longing of the meek Thou hast heard, O Jehovah;
Thou wilt establish their heart, Thou wilt cause Thine ear to attend:

18 to judge the orphan and the contrite,
so that a man from the earth may not still add to terrify.
