1
When◦ I would have healed Israel, then the iniquity of Ephraim was revealed, and the evils of Samaria; for they work falsely; and the thief comes··in, and the troop attacks outside.
2
And they say not▵ in their hearts that I remember all their evil; now their own actions have turned· them ·around; they are in··front··of My face.
3
They make· the king ·glad with their evil, and princes with their denials.
4
All of them are adulterers, like▵ a burning oven of the baker, who ceases from stirring, from kneading the dough until it be leavened.
5
In the day of our king the princes have become sick with the fury from wine; he drew forth his hand with◦ scorners.
6
For they have offered their heart as an oven, while they set··an··ambush; their baker is sleeping all the night; in the morning it◦ burns as a flaming fire.
7
All of them are· as ·hot as an oven, and have devoured their judges; all their kings are fallen; there is none among◦ them that calls unto▵ Me.
8
Ephraim, he◦ has mixed himself among◦ the people; Ephraim is a cake◦ not▵ turned.
9
Strangers have devoured his power, and he◦ knows it not; yes◦, gray··hairs are sprinkled on◦ him, and he◦ knows it not.
10
And the pride of Israel answers to his face; and they do not return to▵ Jehovah their God, nor seek Him in all this.
11
Ephraim also is like◦ a silly dove without▵ heart; they call··to Egypt, they go◦ to Assyria.
12
As◦ they shall go, I will spread My net upon them; I will bring· them ·down as the fowls of the heavens; I will chastise them, at the hearing of their congregation.
13
Woe to them◦! for they have fled··away from Me; devastation for them◦! for they have transgressed against Me: and I▵ have redeemed◦ them◦, and they have spoken lies against Me.
14
And they have not cried to▵ Me with their heart, when◦ they howled on their beds; they league··together on grain and must*, they turn··aside against◦ Me.
15
And I◦ have chastened them and made· their arms ·firm, and they think evil toward▵ Me.
16
They return, but not above; they become as a deceitful bow: their princes shall fall by the sword from the indignation of their tongue: this shall be their derision in the land of Egypt.
