This is clear from the meaning of 'the soul', when it refers to those with a desire to receive instruction in the truths of faith, who are meant by 'sojourners', as their desire and life. 'The soul' means the life that belongs to faith, 9050, and desire is the actual force at work within that life, for it springs from the affection for good, and the affection for good gives the truth of faith its life.
