21 Sabuza kubantu baloo ndawo, sathi, Liphi na ing’awukazi ebe lise-Enayim ngasendleleni? Bathi, Akubangakho ng’awukazi apha.

22 Sabuyela kuYuda sathi, Andilifumananga; nabo abantu baloo ndawo bathe, Akubangakho ng’awukazi apha.

23 Wathi uYuda, Malizithabathe, hleze sidelwe. Yabona, ndithumele eli takane, ke wena akulifumananga.

24 Kwathi, emva kweenyanga ezintathu, waxelelwa uYuda kwathiwa, UTamare, umolokazana wakho, uhenyuzile; kananjalo, yabona, umithi ngokuhenyuza oko. UYuda wathi, Mkhupheni atshiswe.

25 Akukhutshwa, wathumela yena kuyisezala, wathi, Ndimithiswe yindoda ezizezayo ezi zinto; wathi, Khawufanise ukuba ngokabani na lo msesane, nesi sidanga, nalo msimelelo.

26 Wazifanisa uYuda, wathi, Ulilungisa kunam; wenze kuba ndingamnikanga uShela, unyana wam. Akabanga sabuya amazi.

27 Kwathi, ngexesha lokuzala kwakhe, nanku ingamawele esizalweni sakhe.

28 Kwathi, ekuzaleni kwakhe, kwavela isandla; wathabatha umzalisikazi, wabopha esandleni salo usinga olubomvu, esithi, Eli laphuma kuqala.

29 Kuthe ke, lakusibuyisa isandla salo, nanko kuphuma umzalwana walo. Wathi, Yini na ukuba uzityhobozele? Wathiywa ke igama lokuba nguPeretse.

30 Kwathi emva koko, kwaphuma umzalwana walo, obenosinga olubomvu esandleni sakhe; wathiywa igama lokuba nguZera.

Explanation of Matthew 1

Napsal(a) Rev. John Clowes M.A.

Verse 1. That the Word throughout treats of the spiritual productions of faith and love derived from the Lord.

Verses 2-17. These productions are enumerated under various names expressive of their qualities;

Verses 2-6. And may be reduced to three classes; the first of which is celestial;

Verses 7-12. and the second spiritual;

Verses 12-16. and the third natural;

Verse 17. all of which are most holy.

Verse 18. That the Lord, as to His Human essence, was conceived from the Divine, in the mother Mary, who thus represented the church as to good, about to be conjoined to its proper truth.

Verse 19. That the truth of the church could not comprehend this, and was about to separate itself from its good;

Verses 20-21. Until instructed in its obscure state from the Word, teaching that the Lord would assume the Human essence, as a means of rescuing man from hell;

Verses 22-23. As had been predicted

Verse 24. Thus illumination succeeds, and the conjunction of good and truth in the church;

Verse 25. And all salvation is acknowledged to be from the Lord's Divine Humanity.
