Taches or Clasps of Gold

Napsal(a) New Christian Bible Study Staff

Rings of gold signify the ability to use good loves to join things together. The gold stands for inner, pure loves for good.

Some English translations of the Word use the terms clasps, or taches of gold, and indeed Swedenborg's description of the inner meaning seems to include the idea of clasping, attaching, or joining.

Later in the story, when bronze clasps are mentioned, they mean more external - though still good - loves.
