1 Loquente Ephraim, horror invasit Israël ; et deliquit in Baal, et mortuus est.

2 Et nunc addiderunt ad peccandum ; feceruntque sibi conflatile de argento suo quasi similitudinem idolorum : factura artificum totum est : his ipsi dicunt : Immolate homines, vitulos adorantes.

3 Idcirco erunt quasi nubes matutina, et sicut ros matutinus præteriens ; sicut pulvis turbine raptus ex area, et sicut fumus de fumario.

4 Ego autem Dominus Deus tuus, ex terra Ægypti ; et Deum absque me nescies, et salvator non est præter me.

5 Ego cognovi te in deserto, in terra solitudinis.

6 Juxta pascua sua adimpleti sunt et saturati sunt ; et levaverunt cor suum, et obliti sunt mei.

8 Occurram eis quasi ursa raptis catulis, et dirumpam interiora jecoris eorum, et consumam eos ibi quasi leo : bestia agri scindet eos.

10 Ubi est rex tuus ? maxime nunc salvet te in omnibus urbibus tuis ; et judices tui, de quibus dixisti : Da mihi regem et principes.

11 Dabo tibi regem in furore meo, et auferam in indignatione mea.

12 Colligata est iniquitas Ephraim ; absconditum peccatum ejus.

13 Dolores parturientis venient ei : ipse filius non sapiens : nunc enim non stabit in contritione filiorum.

14 De manu mortis liberabo eos ; de morte redimam eos. Ero mors tua, o mors ! morsus tuus ero, inferne ! consolatio abscondita est ab oculis meis.

15 Quia ipse inter fratres dividet : adducet urentem ventum Dominus de deserto ascendentem, et siccabit venas ejus, et desolabit fontem ejus : et ipse diripiet thesaurum omnis vasis desiderabilis.

343. "Retinentes quatuor ventos terrae, ut non flaret ventus super terram, neque super mare, neque super ullam arborem," significat influxum propiorem et in de fortiorem in inferiora, ubi boni conjuncti erant malis, a Dominio retentum et inhibitum. - Sciendum est, quod Ultimum Judicium existat, dum mali multiplicantur infra Caelos in Mundo spirituum in tantum, ut Angeli in Caelis non possint in statu sui amoris et suae sapientiae subsistere, non enim tunc illis est sustentaculum et fundamentum; et quia hoc ex multiplicatione malorum infra existit, ideo Dominus, ut statum illorum conservet, cum Divino Suo fortius et fortius influit, et hoc fit usque dum non possunt per aliquem influxum conservari, nisi mali infra separentur a bonis; et hoc fit per subsidentiam et appropinquationem Caelorum, et inde influxum fortiorem, usque dum mali illum non sustinent et tunc mali aufugiunt, et se ipsos in Infernum conjiciunt: hoc quoque est, quod in praecedente capite significatur per haec:

Nunc ad explicationem: per "quatuor Ventos" significatur influxus Caelorum; per" terram, mare et omnem arborem," significantur omnia inferiora, et quae ibi; per "terram et mare" omnia inferiora, et per "omnem arborem" omnia quae ibi. Quod "Ventus" significet influxum, proprie influxum veri in intellectum, constare potest a sequentibus locis:

"Dixit Dominus Jehovih, A quatuor Ventis veni spiritus, et inspira in occisos hoc, ut vivant," (Ezechiel 37:9-10);

"Visi sunt quatuor Currus," ad quos erant quatuor Equi; "hi sunt quatuor Venti Caelorum," (Sacharias 6:1, 5);

"Oportet vos generari denuo; Ventus ubi vult spirat, et non scis unde venit et quo abit," (Johannes 3:7-8); 1 Factor terrae praeparat Orbem per sapientiam Suam, educit Ventum e thesauris Suis," (Jeremias 10:12-13; 51:15-16; Psalm 125:7 [NCBSP: Psalm 135:7]);

"Spiritus Sanctus" est Divinum Verum procedens a Domino, cujus influxus in discipulos repraesentatus est et inde significatur per quod "inspiraverit in illos." Quod "ventus" et respiratio significent influxum Divini Veri in intellectum, est ex correspondentia pulmonis cum intellectu, de qua videatur in Sapientia Angelica de Divino Amore et Divina Sapientia 371-429. Quoniam propior et fortior influxus Divinus per Caelos dispergit vera apud malos, ideo "ventus" significat dispersionem veri apud illos, et inde conjunctionem illorum cum Inferno, ac interitum; ut videri potest ex his locis:

"Adducam super Elamum quatuor Ventos e quatuor finibus Caelorum, et dispergam eum," (Jeremias 49:36);

"Disperges eos, ut Ventus auferat eos, et Procella dissipet eos," (Esajas 41:16); 3

"Flatus Jehovae sicut fluvius sulphuris accendit eos," (Esaias 30:33);

Machinatores iniquitatis "a Flatu Dei pereunt, et a Spiritu nasi Ipsius consumuntur," (Hiob 4:8-9);

"Revelata sunt fundamenta Orbis ab increpatione Jehovae, a Flatu spiritus nasi Tui," (Psalm 18:16 (B.A. 15));

tum per eundem illum Ventum,

Quo exsiccabatur Mare Suph, (Exodus 14:21);

de quo ita Moses:

"A Flatu narium Tuarum coacervatae sunt aquae, spirasti Vento Tuo, contexit eos Mare," (Exodus 15:8, 10). 10

Ex his nunc constare potest, quod per "retinere quatuor Ventos ne flaret Ventus super terram" significetur retinere et inhibere influxum propiorem et fortiorem in inferiora.
