Ezekiel 6

Studie

1 And the word of Jehovah was unto me, saying,

2 Son of man, set thy face toward the mountains of Israel, and prophesy against them,

3 and say, Ye mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord Jehovih*; Thus says the Lord Jehovih to the mountains, and to the hills, to the channels, and to the ravines; Behold, I, even I, will bring a sword on you, and I will make· your high··places ·perish.

4 And your altars shall be desolate, and your sun··statues shall be broken; and I will cause your slain to fall before your idols.

5 And I will put the corpses of the sons of Israel before their idols; and I will disperse your bones all around your altars.

6 In all your dwellings the cities shall be laid waste, and the high··places shall be··desolate; so··that your altars may be laid waste and desolated*, and your idols may be broken and cease, and your sun··statues may be hewn··down, and your deeds may be wiped··away.

7 And the slain shall fall in the midst of you, and you shall know that I am Jehovah.

8 And I will cause there to be a remnant, when there shall be to thee some who shall escape the sword among the nations, when you shall be dispersed among the lands.

9 And they that escape of you shall remember Me among the nations where they shall be taken··captive, because I am broken with their harlot heart, which has turned··aside from Me, and with their eyes, which commit··harlotry after their idols; and they shall loathe their faces for the evils which they have done for all their abominations.

10 And they shall know that I am Jehovah, and that I have not spoken without··cause, to do this evil unto them.

11 Thus says the Lord Jehovih; Smite with the palm of thy hand, and stamp* with thy foot, and say, Ah! for all the evil abominations of the house of Israel, which shall fall by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence.

12 He that is far··off shall··die of the pestilence; and he that is near shall fall by the sword; and he that is left and is besieged* shall··die by the famine; and I will complete My fury on them.

13 And you shall know that I am Jehovah, when their slain men shall be in the midst of their idols all around their altars, to every high hill, on all the heads of the mountains, and under every green tree, and under every intertwined oak, the place where they gave a restful smell to all their idols.

14 And I will stretch··out My hand upon them, and make the land desolate, yea, more desolate than the wilderness toward Diblath, in all their dwellings; and they shall know that I am Jehovah.

28. The Son of man symbolizes the Lord in relation to the Word because prophets also were called sons of man. Prophets were also called sons of man because they represented the Lord in relation to the Word, and therefore they symbolized the doctrine of the church drawn from the Word. Prophets have no other meaning in heaven when they are mentioned in the Word. For the spiritual meaning of a prophet, as also that of the Son of man, is the doctrine of the church drawn from the Word, and when referring to the Lord it is the Word itself.

That the prophet Daniel was called son of man may be seen in Daniel 8:17.

That the prophet Ezekiel was called son of man may be seen in Ezekiel 2:1, 3, 6, 8, 3:1, 3-4, 10, 17, 25, 4:1, 16, 5:1, 6:2, 7:2, 8:5-6, 8, 12, 15, 11:2, 4, 15, 12:2-3, 9, 18, 22, 27, 13:2, 17, 14:3, 13, 15:2, 16:2, 17:2, 20:3-4, 27, 46, 21:7, 11, 14, 17, 19, 24, 22:18, 24, 23:2, 36, 24:2, 16, 25, 25:2, 26:2, 27:2, 28:2, 12, 21, 29:2, 18, 30:2, 21, 31:2, 32:2, 18, 33:2, 7, 10, 12, 24, 30, 34:2, 35:2, 36:1, 17, 37:3, 9, 11, 16, 38:2, 14, 39:1, 17, 40:4, 43:7, 10, 18, 44:5.

It is apparent now from this that the Lord in relation to His Divine humanity is called the Son of God, and in relation to the Word the Son of man.
