Exodus 38

Studie

And he made the altar of burnt··offering of shittim* wood, five cubits its length, and five cubits its breadth, foursquare; and three cubits its height.

And he made its horns upon its four corners; out of it were its horns; and he overlaid it with bronze.

And he made all the vessels of the altar; the pots, and the shovels, and the basins, the forks, and the pincers; all its vessels he made of bronze.

And he made for the altar a grate, a network of bronze, under the area of it below, to the half of it.

And he cast four rings on the four ends of the grate of bronze, the housings for the poles.

And he made the poles of shittim wood, and overlaid them with bronze.

And he brought the poles into the rings on the ribs of the altar, to carry it with them; hollow with tablets he made it.

And he made the laver of bronze, and its base of bronze, in the sight of those ministering who ministered at the entrance of the Tabernacle of the congregation.

And he made the court for the quarter of the south southward; the hangings of the court of fine· twined ·linen, a hundred in cubits;

their pillars twenty, and their bases twenty, were of bronze; the links of the pillars and their collars were of silver.

And for the quarter of the north a hundred cubits, their pillars twenty and their bases twenty of bronze; the links of the pillars and their collars were of silver.

And for the quarter of the sea, hangings of fifty cubits, their pillars ten, and their bases ten; the links of the pillars and their collars were of silver.

And at the quarter of the east eastward fifty cubits.

The hangings fifteen cubits to the shoulder; their pillars three, and their bases three.

And for the second shoulder, on this side and on that, for the gate of the court, hangings of fifteen cubits; their pillars three, and their bases three.

All the hangings of the court all around were of fine· twined ·linen.

And their bases for the pillars were of bronze; the links of the pillars and their collars of silver; and the overlays of their heads were silver, and they were collared with silver, all the pillars of the court.

And the sheltering of the gate of the court was of the making of an embroiderer; of blue, and crimson, and scarlet twice-dyed, and fine· twined ·linen; and twenty cubits the length, and the height in the breadth five cubits, alongside the hangings of the court.

And their four pillars, and their four bases, were of bronze; their links were of silver, and the overlays of their heads and their collars were silver.

And all the pegs for the Habitation, and for the court round··about were of bronze.

This is the number of the things for the Habitation, the Habitation of the Testimony, as they were numbered upon the mouth of Moses, for the service of the Levites, by the hand of Ithamar, the son of Aaron the priest.

And Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, made all that Jehovah commanded Moses;

and with him Aholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan, a craftsman, and a thinker, and an embroiderer in blue, and in crimson, and in scarlet twice-dyed, and in fine··linen.

All the gold that was made for the work* in all the work of holiness, even the gold of the wave offering, was nine and twenty talents, and seven hundred and thirty shekels, in the shekel of holiness.

And the silver of those who were numbered of the congregation was a hundred talents, and a thousand and seven hundred and five and seventy shekels, in the shekel of holiness.

A beka* a poll*, the half of a shekel in the shekel of holiness, for everyone that passed by those who were numbered, from a son of twenty years and upward, for six hundred thousand and three thousand and five hundred and fifty men.

And it was, that a hundred talents of silver were for casting the bases of holiness, and the bases of the veil; a hundred bases for the hundred talents, a talent for a base.

And of the thousand and seven hundred and five and seventy shekels he made links for the pillars, and overlaid their heads, and collared them.

And the bronze of the wave offering was seventy talents, and two··thousand and four hundred shekels.

And with it he made the bases of the entrance of the Tabernacle of the congregation, and the altar of bronze, and the grate of bronze which was for it, and all the vessels of the altar.

And the bases of the court all around, and the bases of the gate of the court, and all the pegs of the Habitation, and all the pegs of the court all around.

Instruments

'Instruments of music' have sometimes an opposite or bad sense in the Word, and signify gladness and joy resulting from the affections of evil and the falsity. (See Isaiah 5:11, 12, 23:15, 16) 'Instruments of music' in other places signify the pleasant and delightful affection of spiritual and celestial things.
