Samuel 10

Studie

And Samuel took the vial of oil and poured it on his head and kissed him, and said, Is it not that Jehovah has anointed thee monarch over His inheritance?

When thou goest from with··me today, then thou shalt find two men at the grave of Rachel, on the border of Benjamin at Zelzah; and they will say to thee, The she··donkeys are found which thou wentest to seek; and behold, thy father has abandoned the matter of the she··donkeys, and is··anxious for you, saying, What shall I do for my son?

And thou shalt pass··through thence and thou shalt come further on to the oak··grove of Tabor, and three men shall find thee, going··up unto God to Bethel, one bearing three kids, and one bearing three loaves of bread, and one bearing a jug of wine.

And they shall ask after thy peace, and give thee two loaves of bread, and thou shalt take them from their hand.

After that, thou shalt come to the hill of God, where the garrison of the Philistines is; and it shall be, as thou comest· thither ·into the city, that thou shalt fall··upon a line* of prophets coming··down from the high··place; and before them a psaltery and a timbrel and a flute and a harp; and they shall prophesy.

And the spirit of Jehovah shall come··mightily on thee, and thou shalt prophesy with them, and thou shalt be turned into another man.

And it shall be when these signs shall come unto thee, do for thyself what thy hand finds; for God is with thee.

And thou shalt go··down before me to Gilgal; and behold, I will come··down unto thee, to offer··up burnt··offerings, and to sacrifice sacrifices of peace··offerings. Seven days thou shalt wait··with··hope until I come to thee, and make known to thee what thou shalt do.

And it was, that he had turned his shoulder to go from with Samuel, and God turned his heart into another; and all these signs came on that day.

And they came thither to the hill, and behold, a line* of prophets met him; and the spirit of God came··mightily on him, and he prophesied in their midst.

And it was, when all who knew him from yesterday and the day··before* saw him, and, behold, he prophesied with the prophets, that the people said, a man to his companion, What is this that has come··to··pass to the son of Kish? Is Saul also among the prophets?

And a man from there answered and said, And who is their father? Therefore it became a proverb, Is Saul also among the prophets?

And he completed prophesying, and came to the high··place.

And the uncle of Saul said to him and to his lad, Whither did you go? And he said, To seek the she··donkeys; and we saw that they were not, and we came to Samuel.

And the uncle of Saul said, Tell me, I pray thee, what Samuel said to you.

And Saul said unto his uncle, Telling he told to us that the she··donkeys were··found. But as to the matter of the kingdom, he told him not that which Samuel had said.

And Samuel summoned the people together unto Jehovah to Mizpah;

and said unto the sons of Israel, Thus says Jehovah the God of Israel, I brought· Israel ·up from Egypt, and rescued you from the hand of the Egyptians, and from the hand of all the kingdoms that subjugated you.

And you have this day rejected your God, who Himself saved you out of all your evils and your adversities; and you have said unto Him, Set a king over us. And now stand··forth before Jehovah, according to your tribes and according to your thousands.

And Samuel caused all the tribes of Israel to come··near, and the tribe of Benjamin was taken.

And he caused the tribe of Benjamin to come··near according to its families, and the family of Matri was taken, and Saul the son of Kish was taken; and they sought him and he was· not ·found.

And they asked still of Jehovah, Will the man still come hither? And Jehovah said, Behold, he is hidden··away among the vessels.

And they ran and took him thence, and he stood··forth in the midst of the people, and he was··taller than any of the people, from his shoulder and upward.

And Samuel said to all the people, Do ye see him whom Jehovah has chosen, that there is none like him among all the people? And all the people shouted and said, May· the king ·live!

And Samuel told the people the judgments of the kingdom, and wrote them in a book, and placed it before Jehovah. And Samuel sent··away all the people, a man to his house.

And Saul also went to his house to Gibeah; and there went with him a host, whose heart God had touched.

And the sons of Belial said, How shall this one save us? And they despised him, and they brought him not a gift; and he was··silent.
