1 耶和华亚伯兰:你要离开本地、本族、父家,往我所要指示你的地去。

2 我必叫你成为国。我必赐福给你,叫你的名为;你也要叫别人得福。

3 为你祝福的,我必赐福与他;那咒诅你的,我必咒诅他。地上的万族都要因你得福。

4 亚伯兰就照着耶和华的吩咐去了;罗得也和他同去。亚伯兰哈兰的时候年七十五岁。

5 亚伯兰将他妻子撒莱和侄儿罗得,连他们在哈兰所积蓄的财物、所得的人口,都迦南地去。他们就到了迦南地。

11 埃及,就对他妻子撒莱:我知道你是容貌俊美的妇人

13 求你,你是我的妹子,使我因你得平安,我的命也因你存活。

14 及至亚伯兰到了埃及埃及人见那妇人极其美貌。

The Inner Meaning of Genesis 12

In Genesis 11, we met Abram for the first time, as his genealogy was traced down through the generations from Noah. Abram represents the beginning of a new spiritual state of humankind - a new church that would record preserve important external truths. Those external truths contained internal ones - true ideas about God the way people should live.

These external truths were encoded in stories, first preserved in oral traditions then in written scriptures in the time of Moses. In the current , Abram, goes, as commanded by God, the land of Canaan. In doing this, he effectively starts the Hebrew church (from Eber, Abraham's forebear).

All the geographic places in the land of Canaan its environs had been given spiritual significations by the people of the Most Ancient Church. In the new Word that would be written there, these places would be mentioned by name would signify spiritual ideas.

When Abraham is driven by famine in the land seek refuge in Egypt, it symbolizes a state of initial instruction for this new church. That early instruction is of an external type. Egypt, in the Word, represents scientific knowledge - the natural sciences - which teach the natural level in people.

There are two levels of "story" nested in the symbolism of the literal text. One is the spiritual story of humankind. Another, higher one, is the story of the inner spiritual process that would take place in the life of Jesus Christ. Both stories are traced out in Swedenborg's exegesis of the Word.

Here's an excerpt from his capstone work, True Christian Religion:

The Word has two senses hidden in its literal sense; these are called the spiritual the celestial senses. In the spiritual sense the contents of the Word refer chiefly the church in the celestial sense chiefly the Lord. Again in the spiritual sense its contents refer Divine truth in the celestial sense Divine good. (True Christian Religion 248)

1025. “你们以后的种”表那些正重新受造的人. 这从“种”的含义以及下文清楚可知. 从“种”的含义清楚看出来,是因为就字义而言,“种”是指后裔,但就内义而言,是指信; 由于如前面经常所说的,信只存在于仁爱所在之处,故就内义而言,仁爱本身就是“种”所指的. 从下文明显可知,所论述的主题不仅是教会之内的人,还包括教会之外的人,因而是整个人类. 哪里有仁爱,哪里就有“种”,哪怕距教会最遥远的外邦人所在之处,因为天堂的种子就是仁爱. 没人能凭自己行善事,一切善皆来自主. 外邦人所行之善也来自主,关于他们,蒙主慈悲,容后再述. “神的种”就是信,这在前面已予以说明(255节). 那里以及别处的信都是指流出信的仁爱,因为除了仁之信外,并不存在系正信的其它信.

这也适用于圣言中其它提及“种”的地方,如“亚伯拉罕,或以撒, 雅各的种”,它表爱或仁. 因为亚伯拉罕代表属天之爱,以撒代表属灵之爱,这二者都属于内在人. 雅各所代表的一样,但属于外在人. 这不仅适用于圣言的预言部分,也适用于圣言的历史部分. 天堂所觉察到的并非圣言中的历史,而是它们所表示的事物,因为圣言不仅仅是写给人类的,也是写给天使的. 当人阅读圣言,并从中只取其字义时,天使则不仅取其字义,还取其内义. 世人所持有的物质, 世俗和肉体的观念到了天使那里,就变成属灵和属天的观念了. 如,当人阅读有关亚伯拉罕, 以撒和雅各的内容时,天使根本不会思及亚伯拉罕, 以撒和雅各,他们心里想的是这些人所代表和表示的真实事物.

持守字义之人只会这样理解:“种”用来表示亚伯兰的后裔,“陆地”用来表示迦南陆地,尤其理解为这陆地被赐给了他的后裔. 而通晓内义之人,如整个天堂的情形,则只会将“亚伯兰的种”理解为爱,将“迦南陆地”理解为主在天上和地上的国,将“陆地”被赐给他们理解为它的代表性,对此,蒙主慈悲,我将在别处予以论述. 类似用法出现在论及亚伯兰的别处经文中:

耶和华带他到外面,说,你向天观看,数算众星,能数得过来吗? 又对他说,你的种将要如此. (创世记 15:5)

此处“立约”表主藉着爱与全世界的人结合,这爱由亚伯兰来代表. 由此明显可知他的“种”所表之义,即全世界拥有爱之人. 此处所论述的割礼之约,在天堂从不理解为肉体的割礼,而是心的割礼,也就是那些拥有爱之人所接受的割礼. 割礼代表藉着爱重生,如在摩西书中所清楚解释的:

耶和华神必给你的心和你种的心行割礼,好叫你尽心尽性爱耶和华你的神,使你可以存活. (申命记 30:6)

此处清楚表明“种”表全世界拥有爱的人.

正如亚伯拉罕代表属天之爱,如前所述,故以撒代表属灵之爱; 因此,“以撒的种”无非表内有属灵之爱或仁爱的所有人. 关于他们,经上说:

你寄居在这陆地,我必与你同在,赐福给你,因为我要将所有这些陆地都赐给你和你的种,我必履行我向你父亚伯拉罕所起的誓,我必使你的种增多,如同天上的星,我必将所有这些陆地都赐给你的种,地上万国都必因你的种得福. (创世记 26:3,4,24)

关于这“种”,雅各在梦里看到梯子后被告知了:

此处所指的事物完全不同于字面上的事物. “大卫”不是指大卫,“犹大”不是指犹大,“以色列”也不是指以色列; “大卫”表主,“犹大”表属天之物,“以色列”表属灵之物; 因此“以色列的种”表那些拥有仁爱或仁之信的人.

诗篇:

你们敬畏耶和华的人要赞美祂! 雅各的种都要荣耀祂! 以色列的种都要敬畏祂! (诗篇 22:23)

此处“以色列的种”表属灵教会,而非其它种子. 以赛亚书:

它的树墩子要作这圣洁的种子. (以赛亚书 6:13)

“圣洁的种子”表余留,余留是圣洁的,因为它们是主的. 同一先知书:

我必从雅各中领出种,从犹大中领出承受我众山的,我的选民必拥有它,我的仆人要在那里居住. (以赛亚 65:9)

这论及属天的教会,包括外在和内在. 又:

他们生子不再受惊. 他们要做蒙耶和华赐福者的种,他们的后代也跟他们一样. (以赛亚书 65:23)

这论及新天和新地,即主的国. 那里的人通过爱被生出,或已重生,故被称为“耶和华赐福者的种”.
