UYehova wathumela uNatan kuDavide. Waya kuye, wathi kuye, Kwakukho amadoda amabini mzini mnye: enye isisityebi, enye ilihlwempu.

Esisityebi yayinempahla emfutshane neenkomo ezininzi kunene.

Elihlwempu yayingenanto, kuphela yayinemva nazana encinane inye, ebiyizuzile, yayigcina; yakhulela kuyo nabantwana bayo ndaweni-nye, yadla eqhekezeni layo, yasela endebeni yayo, yalala esifubeni sayo, yanjengentombi yayo.

Kwafika umhambi endodeni esisityebi eso, sanqena ukuthabatha empahleni yaso emfutshane nasezinkomeni zaso, ukulungiselela umhambi lowo ufikileyo kuso; sesuka sathabatha imvanazana yendoda elihlwempu, salungiselela umntu ofike kuso.

Wavutha kunene umsindo kaDavide kwindoda leyo, wathi kuNatan, Ehleli nje uYehova, ngumfo wokufa loo ndoda yenze le nto.

Iya kuyimisela ngesine imvanazana leyo, ngenxa enokuba yenze loo nto, nangenxa yokuba ingabanga nalufefe.

Waza wathi uNatan kuDavide, Loo ndoda nguwe. Utsho uYehova uThixo kaSirayeli ukuthi, Mna ndakuthambisa ukuba ube ngukumkani kumaSirayeli, mna ndakuhlangula esandleni sikaSawule,

ndakunika indlu yenkosi yakho, nabafazi benkosi yakho esifubeni sakho, ndakunika indlu yakwaSirayeli neyakwaYuda; ke, ukuba bekukuncinane oko, ngendikongezile ndenjenje, ndenjenje.

Yini na ukuba ulidele ilizwi likaYehova, wenze ububi emehlweni akhe, umbulale u-Uriya umHeti ngekrele, nomkakhe umzeke abe ngumkakho, umbulale ngekrele loonyana baka-Amon?

Ke ngoko, ikrele aliyi kumka endlwini yakho naphakade; ngenxa enokuba undidelile, wamzeka umkaUriya umHeti, wangumkakho.

Utsho uYehova ukuthi, Ndikuvelisela ububi obuya kuphuma endlwini yakho: ndibathabathe abafazi bakho emehlweni akho, ndibanike ummelwane wakho, alale nabafazi bakho phambi kwelanga eli.

Ekubeni wena ukwenze oku ngasese, ke mna ndiya kuyenza le nto phambi kwamaSirayeli onke, naphambi kwelanga eli.

Wathi uDavide kuNatan, Ndonile kuYehova. Wathi uNatan kuDavide, Naye uYehova usikhwelelisile isono sakho, akuyi kufa.

Kodwa ke, ngenxa yokuba uzinike ithuba lokunyelisa iintshaba zikaYehova ngale nto, ke unyana omzalelweyo ngulo mfazi uya kufa ngenene.

Waya uNatan endlwini yakhe. UYehova wamhlisela isifo umntwana abemzalelwe uDavide ngumkaUriya; wagula kakhulu.

UDavide wambongoza uThixo ngenxa yenkwenkwe leyo; uDavide wazila ukudla, waqungquluza emhlabeni bonke ubusuku.

Asuka ema amadoda amakhulu endlu yakhe, emvusa emhlabeni; akavuma, akadla sonka nawo.

Kwathi ngomhla wesixhenxe, wafa umntwana. Boyika abakhonzi bakaDavide ukumxelela ukuba umntwana ufile; ngokuba babesithi, Yabonani, oko umntwana ebesahleli, sathetha naye, akaliphulaphula ilizwi lethu; sothini na ukuthi kuye, ufile umntwana, aze enze into embi?

Wabona uDavide ukuba abakhonzi bakhe bayasebezelana, waqonda uDavide ukuba ufile umntwana; wathi uDavide kubakhonzi bakhe, ufile na umntwana? Bathi, ufile.

Wesuka uDavide emhlabeni, wazihlamba, wazithambisa, wanxiba ngubo zimbi, waya endlwini kaYehova, waqubuda; weza endlwini yakhe, wabiza ukudla; babeka phambi kwakhe, wadla.

Bathi abakhonzi bakhe kuye, Yintoni na le nto uyenzileyo? Oko ebesahleli umntwana, wazila ukudla, walila; akuba efile umntwana, uvukile wadla ukudla.

Wathi yena, Xa ebesahleli umntwana, ndazila ukudla, ndalila; ngokuba bendisithi, Ngubani na owaziyo? Mhlawumbi uYehova angandibabala, aphile umntwana.

Efile nje kaloku, yini na ukuba ndibe ndisazila ukudla? Ndisenako yini na ukumbuyisa? Ndiya kuya kuye mna, yena akayi kubuyela kum.

UDavide wamthuthuzela uBhatshebha umkakhe; wangena kuye, walala naye; wazala unyana, wathi igama lakhe nguSolomon.

Ke uYehova wamthanda; wathumela ngesandla sikaNatan umprofeti, wathi, Igama lakhe nguYedidiya, ngenxa kaYehova.

Ke kaloku uYowabhi walwa neRabha yoonyana baka-Amon, wawuthimba umzi wakomkhulu lowo.

UYowabhi wathuma abathunywa kuDavide, esithi, Ndilwile neRabha, kananjalo ndiwuthimbile umzi wamanzi.

Hlanganisa ngoko abantu abaseleyo, uwurhawule umzi, uwuthimbe; hleze mna ndiwuthimbe lo mzi, ubizwe ngam.

Wabahlanganisa uDavide bonke abantu, waya eRabha, walwa nayo, wayithimba.

Wasithabatha isithsaba sokumkani wabo entlokweni yakhe; ubunzima baso bebuyitalente yegolide, sinamatye anqabileyo; saba sentlokweni kaDavide. Waphuma namaxhoba aloo mzi, aba maninzi kunene.

Ke abantu ababekhona wabarhola, wabathumela ezisarheni, nasezisizilweni zesinyithi, nasezierheni zesinyithi, wabasebenzisa emazikweni ezitena. Wenjenjalo kwimizi yonke yoonyana baka-Amon. Wabuyela eYerusalem uDavide nabantu bonke.
