5 And why have ye conducted us from Egypt, to bring us to this evil place? it is no place of seed, or of figs, or of vines, or of pomegranates; neither is there any water to drink.

Verse 5. And why have we been led from the delights of the natural life into such conditions as this, in which we are deprived of truth, of good, and of knowledge as to spiritual good internal and external? A state in which, indeed, even general truths can neither be acquired nor appropriated!
