1 Vay başına Siyondaki kaygısızların,
Samiriye Dağında kendilerini güvende sananların,
İsrail halkının başvurduğu
Önder ulusun tanınmış insanlarının!

2 Kalne Kentine gidin de görün,
Oradan büyük Hamaya geçin,
Filistlilerin Gat Kentine inin,
Sizin bu krallıklarınızdan daha mı iyiler?
Toprakları sizinkinden daha mı geniş?

3 Ey sizler, kötü günü uzak sanan,
Zorbalık tahtını yaklaştıranlar.

4 Ey sizler, fildişi süslü yataklara uzananlar,
Sedirlere serilenler,
Seçme kuzular, besili buzağılar yiyenler,

5 Çenk eşliğinde türkü söyleyenler,
Davut gibi beste yapanlar,

6 Tas tas şarap içenler,
Yağların en güzelini sürünenler,
Yusufun yıkımına kederlenmeyenler!

7 Bu yüzden şimdi bunlar
Sürgüne gideceklerin başını çekecekler;
Sona erecek sedire serilenlerin cümbüşü.

8 Egemen RAB başı üzerine ant içti,
Her Şeye Egemen Tanrı RAB şöyle diyor:
‹‹Yakupun gururundan iğreniyor,
Saraylarından tiksiniyorum.
Bu yüzden içindeki her şeyle kenti
Düşmana teslim edeceğim.››

9 Eğer bir evden on kişi kalmışsa,
Onlar da ölecek.

10 Ölünün akrabası yakmak için cesedi evden almaya gelince,
Evdekine, ‹‹Yanında kimse var mı?›› diye soracak,
O da, ‹‹Hayır!›› yanıtını alınca,
‹‹Sus!›› diyecek, ‹‹RABbin adı anılmamalı.››

11 Çünkü RAB buyuruyor,
Büyük ev toza,
Küçük ev küle dönecek.

12 Atlar kaya üzerinde koşar mı?
Kimse denizde öküzle çift sürer mi?
Ama siz adaleti zehire,
Doğruluk meyvesini pelinotuna çevirdiniz.

13 Sizler, Lo-Devar Kentini aldık diye sevinenler,
‹‹Karnayimi kendi bileğimizle ele geçirmedik mi?›› diyenlersiniz. simgesidir.

14 ‹‹İşte bu yüzden, ey İsrail halkı,
Üzerinize bir ulus göndereceğim››
Diyor Her Şeye Egemen Tanrı RAB,
‹‹Levo-Hamat'tan Arava Vadisi'ne kadar ezecekler sizi.››

Exploring the Meaning of Amos 6

By Helen Kennedy

Woe is called upon people who seem to live a life of ease and fill it with pleasures. For example, those who “Eat lambs from the flock.” (Amos 6:4) Following Swedenborg’s correspondences it could mean “Those who attribute innocence (the lamb) to themselves,” or think they are blameless when they have actually sinned. Also, “Do horses run on rocks?”(Amos 6:12) is a great image for when our understanding is filled with only literal or external truths but doesn’t delve into deeper ones that show the Lord’s leading more clearly.
