1 And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed.

2 (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.)

3 And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.

4 And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)

5 To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.

6 And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.

7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

Explanation of Luke 2

Verses 1-6. That at this time the love of dominion, grounded in worldly ends, prevailed universally, endeavouring to extend it's empire over the things of the Church.

Verses 6-7. On which occasion the Lord was born, and was initiated into the truths of innocence and the doctrine of truth from the Word, which was extinguished by falsities.

Verses 8-9. They also, who teach and lead to the good of charity by the truth of faith, are hence enlightened, and filled with holy adoration.

Verses 10-12. Because Jehovah assumed the human nature for the purpose of saving mankind, which purpose He testified and confirmed by initiating His Humanity into the truths of innocence and the doctrine of truth from the Word.

Verses 13-14. On which account all in the heavens exalt the Divine Truth, as the alone source of all true worship, faith and charity amongst men.

Verses 15-19. They too, who teach and lead to the good of charity by the truth of faith, are confirmed in their belief in the Incarnate god by rational conviction in their understandings, and make it, known to others, who gladly receive it.

Verses 19-20. This belief also is cherished with internal affection in the Church, and hence all truth and good in the human understanding and will are ascribed to the Divine Truth.

Verses 21-25. That the Lord successively put off the hereditary principle received from the mother, and put on the Divine principle, until all truth in Him was made Divine Good.

Verses 25-26. And that He is made manifest to all who are in the principle of obedience.

Verses 27-34. And who accordingly receive Him with affection, and acknowledge Him as the predicted Saviour, who was to establish a new Church amongst the Gentiles.

Verses 34-35. And by whose Divine power evils were to be separated and goods exalted, and this through reproach and contumely, that so by the light of Divine Truth the state of the Church as to understanding and will might be made manifest.

Verses 36-39. Since every affection of good and of truth testifies, that He alone is the redeemer of mankind.

Verses 39-40. Who, as to His Humanity, was to be initiated into the goods and truths of the Word, and was thus gradually to advance, according to the laws of Divine order, to a full and complete union with Divinity.

Verses 41-51. Therefore when such initiation was accomplished, He was introduced, as to His Humanity, into all things of heaven and the Church.

Verses 51-52. And was content to bear with hereditary infirmity, during His growth in Divine Truth and Good.

Úvod:

Všichni máme tento idealismus, protože ho Pán tajně implantoval do našich bytostí od okamžiku, kdy jsme se narodili. Každý krásný pocit, každá pravá myšlenka je v nás uložen naším milujícím Bohem a stává se naší duchovní Marií.

Joseph si přirozeně myslel, že jeho manželství s Mary přinese dítě, které jim přinese štěstí. Myslíme si, že pokud si vezmeme své porozumění k našim ideálům, vybudujeme své štěstí. A v jednom smyslu je to pravda. Ve skutečnosti je to však moc všemohoucího Boha, který se vlévá do našeho idealismu, a vytváří pravou lásku. Protože Joseph nebyl Ježíšovým otcem, ale byl jeho přirozeným opatrovníkem, naše porozumění hraje roli v našem budoucím štěstí, ale skutečná láska je v nás božským zrozením. To je opravdové poselství Vánoc - že ten, kdo přišel na Zemi, může sám láskou zahřát srdce lidí.

Lukáš 2:6: "A tak to bylo, že zatímco tam byli, dny byly splněny, aby měla být doručena."

Trvalo staletí, než se Pán narodil na Zemi. Po celou tu dobu připravoval lidi na své narození a díky těmto slibům se na to těšili.

Ztratíme svou nevinu poměrně brzy a možná cítíme, že jsme velmi sobeckí lidé. Pánovi je třeba vytvořit v našich srdcích lásku. Rádi bychom se stali laskavými, naprosto milujícími lidmi v okamžiku. Toto zrození potřebuje čas a trpělivost. Ale nastal čas!

Lukáš 2:7„Vynesla svého prvorozeného syna, zabalila ho do přikrývky a položila ho do jeslí, protože pro něj v hostinci nebyl žádný prostor.“

Mohl se narodit kdekoli na Zemi - v nejúžasnějším paláci, dědicem světské moci a moci. Vybral pokornou stáj. Částečně to bylo proto, že se nestal pozemskou mocí. Jak řekl: „Kdo je větší? Kdo sedí u stolu, nebo kdo slouží? Není to on, kdo sedí u stolu? Přesto jsem mezi vámi jako ten, kdo slouží.“ (Lukáš 22:27).

Důvody však byly větší. Dokonce ani v Betlémě se nemohl narodit v hostinci. Hostinec představuje místo výuky, místo, kde lidé shromažďují a vyměňují si myšlenky. Ale hostinec byl plný, dokonce jako v našich myslích si často myslíme, že to víme všechno.

Narodil se tedy ve stáji, kde se koně živí. Kůň, který nás nese tam, kam chceme jít, představuje porozumění konkrétním pravdám, které nám ukazují cestu v životě. Představuje pochopení duchovní pravdy. A byl zabalen do přikrývky, které představují jednoduché, nevinné pravdy, a položil se na místo, kde přijíždějí koně. Nevinné pravdy jsou ty, které jsme v pokušení posmívat se - jednoduché nápady jako „Je dobré být dobrý“ nebo „Je špatné ublížit druhým“ nebo „Mohu využít své schopnosti, abych přinesl štěstí těm, které miluji.“ Toto jsou mezi nejzákladnější učení, která se nacházejí ve všech Písmech.

Jinými slovy, Pán, když sestoupí do našich myslí a srdcí, zjistí, že v mnoha částech našeho života jsou naše duchovní „hostince“ plné. Myslíme si, že víme velmi dobře, jak se v životě vydat na cestu. Místo toho se rozhodne, že nás svou láskou pohne ve zvláštní části naší mysli - kde hledáme duchovní pravdy a děláme to z nevinnosti.

Všichni máme duchovní jesličky. Každý člověk má nevinné místo, kde se chce učit a kde se cítí pokorně při učení myšlenek, díky nimž bude život tak mnohem lepší, než je nyní.

Závěr: Náš Spasitel chce přijít ke každému z nás. Stvořil nás pro nebe, a abychom poznali radost z nebe, učí nás své zákony. Když odpovíme, potom se Jeho láska narodí v našich srdcích a toto narození následuje tento řádný vzor:

1. Všechny myšlenky naší mysli jsou uspořádány - zřejmě vlastním úsilím. (Sčítání lidu).

2. Probíhá duchovní cesta. Naše porozumění se postupně zvyšuje z myšlení pouze světských hodnot na nové světlo. Bereme s námi náš idealismus (naši duchovní Marii) do tohoto světla, do duchovního Betléma.

3. Pán se nenarodí v těch pravdách, které jsme naplnili a zvrátili čistě světskými hodnotami (hostinec).

4. Místo toho se narodil do těch nevinných pravd z Jeho Slova, kterým jsme vždy důvěřovali, milovali a snadno pochopili (náš jeslí).

5. Jsou zabaleni do jednoduchých a jasných pozorování (zavěšené látky), které chrání naši nově objevenou lásku, když v nás roste.
