1 Judas synd er skrevet med en jerngriffel, med en diamantspiss; den er inngravet på deres hjertes tavle og på deres alteres horn,

2 likesom også deres barn kommer deres altere og deres Astarte-billeder i hu ved de grønne trær og på de høie bakker.

3 Du mitt berg på marken*! Ditt gods, alle dine skatter vil jeg overgi til plyndring, likeså dine hauger, til straff for den synd som er gjort i hele ditt land. / {* d.e. Sion; JE 21, 13; 15, 13 fg.}

4 Og du skal, og det ved din egen skyld, la din arv som jeg gav dig, hvile efter dig*, og jeg vil la dig tjene dine fiender i et land du ikke kjenner; for en ild har I optendt i min vrede, den skal brenne til evig tid. / {* 3MO 26, 33 fg. JE 5, 19. 5MO 32, 22.}

5 sier Herren: Forbannet er den mann som setter sin lit til mennesker og holder kjød for sin arm, og hvis hjerte viker fra Herren.

6 Han skal bli som en hjelpeløs mann på den øde mark og ikke få se at det kommer noget godt; men han skal bo på avsvidde steder i ørkenen, i et saltland som ingen bor i.

7 Velsignet er den mann som stoler på Herren, og hvis tillit Herren er.

8 Han skal bli lik et tre som er plantet ved vann og skyter sine røtter ut ved en bekk, og som ikke frykter når heten kommer, men alltid har grønne blad, og som ikke sørger i tørre år og ikke holder op å bære frukt.

9 Svikefullt er hjertet, mere enn noget annet, og ondt er det; hvem kjenner det?

10 Jeg, Herren, ransaker hjerter og prøver nyrer og gir enhver efter hans ferd, efter frukten av hans gjerninger.

11 Lik en rapphøne som samler unger den ikke har utklekket, er den som vinner rikdom, men ikke med rett; midt i sine dager skal han forlate den, og til sist skal han være en dåre.

12 En herlighetens trone, høit ophøiet fra begynnelsen av, er vår helligdoms sted.

13 Herre, du Israels håp! Alle de som forlater dig, skal bli til skamme; de som viker fra dig, skal skrives i støvet; for de har forlatt kilden med det levende vann, Herren.

14 Læg mig, Herre, så blir jeg lægt! Frels mig, så blir jeg frelst! For du er min lovsang.

15 Se, de sier til mig: Hvor blir det av Herrens ord? La det komme!

16 Men jeg har ikke nektet å følge dig og være hyrde, heller ikke har jeg ønsket en ubotelig ulykkes dag*, du vet det; - det som kom fra mine leber, det kjente du. / {* over dem; JE 18, 20.}

17 Vær ikke til forferdelse for mig! Du er min tilflukt på ulykkens dag.

18 La mine forfølgere bli til skamme, og la ikke mig bli til skamme! La dem forferdes, og la ikke mig forferdes! La ulykkens dag komme over dem, og knus dem med dobbelt knusende slag!

19 sa Herren til mig: Gå og still dig i folkets port, som Judas konger går inn og ut gjennem, og i alle Jerusalems porter!

20 Og du skal si til dem: Hør Herrens ord, Judas konger og hele Juda og alle Jerusalems innbyggere, I som går inn gjennem disse porter!

21 sier Herren: Ta eder i vare så sant I har eders liv kjært, og bær ikke nogen byrde og før ikke nogen byrde inn gjennem Jerusalems porter på sabbatens dag!

22 Og I skal ikke bære nogen byrde ut av eders hus og ikke gjøre nogen gjerning på sabbatens dag; men I skal holde sabbatens dag hellig, som jeg bød eders fedre.

23 Men de hørte ikke og vendte ikke sitt øre til; de gjorde sin nakke hård, så de ikke hørte og ikke tok imot tukt.

24 Men hvis I hører på mig, sier Herren, så I ikke lar nogen byrde komme gjennem denne bys porter på sabbatens dag, men holder sabbatens dag hellig og ikke gjør nogen gjerning på den dag,

25 da skal konger og fyrster som sitterDavids trone, dra inn gjennem denne bys porter på vogner og hester, de selv og deres fyrster, Judas menn og Jerusalems innbyggere, og denne by skal bli stående til evig tid,

26 og fra Judas byer og fra landet omkring Jerusalem og fra Benjamins land og fra lavlandet og fra fjellbygdene og fra sydlandet skal de komme og bære frem brennoffer og slaktoffer og matoffer og virak, og bære frem takkoffer til Herrens hus.

27 Men dersom I ikke hører på mig, så I holder sabbatens dag hellig og ikke bærer nogen byrde inn gjennem Jerusalems porter på sabbatens dag, da vil jeg tende ild på dets porter, og den skal fortære Jerusalems palasser og ikke slukkes.
