1 Og han sa til mig: Menneskesønn! Stå op på dine føtter, så jeg kan tale med dig!

2 Og det kom ånd i mig da han talte til mig, og den fikk mig til å stå på mine føtter, og jeg hørte på ham som talte til mig.

3 Og han sa til mig: Menneskesønn! Jeg sender dig til Israels barn, til hedninger, oprørerne, som har gjort oprør mot mig; de og deres fedre har vært troløse mot mig helt til den dag idag.

4 Og til barna med de frekke ansikter og hårde hjerter sender jeg dig, og du skal si til dem: Så sier Herren, Israels Gud.

5 Og enten de hører eller lar det være - for en gjenstridig ætt er de - så skal de vite at en profet har vært midt iblandt dem.

6 Men du menneskesønn, frykt ikke for dem, og frykt ikke for deres ord! For nesler og torner er du omgitt av, og mellem skorpioner bor du. frykt ikke for deres ord og bli ikke forferdet for deres åsyn! For en gjenstridig ætt er de.

7 Og du skal tale mine ord til dem enten de hører eller lar det være; for gjenstridige er de.

8 Men du menneskesønn, hør på det som jeg taler til dig! Vær ikke gjenstridig som den gjenstridige ætt! Lat op din munn og et det som jeg gir dig!

9 Og jeg så, og se, en hånd var rakt ut til mig, og i den var det en bokrull.

10 Og han bredte den ut foran mig, og der var skrevet på den både på fremsiden og på baksiden; det var klagesanger og sukk og ve-rop som var skrevet på den.
