14 Da sendte Judas konge Esekias bud til den assyriske konge i Lakis og lot si: Jeg har syndet; vend tilbake fra mig! Hvad du legger på mig, vil jeg bære. Da påla kongen i Assyria Judas konge Esekias å betale tre hundre talenter sølv og tretti talenter gull.

Verse 14. And being, in this state, under the influence of the fallacy that life is self-derived, which is the persuasion of corrupted reason, he is disposed to admit the superiority of this delusion, and while desiring deliverance, to be imposed upon; and therefore false reasoning suggests or insinuates that all the truth and good of the church are also self-acquired.
