Verse 24. The affections will burn with lust after evil, and be consumed with the fire of self-love, and with the ruin of the mind thence resulting: the dense falsities arising from earthly lusts (teeth of beasts) will come upon the natural man, and hypocrisy, and reasonings derived from mere sensual principles separate from spiritual life, which altogether destroy the life of heaven in man (the poison of serpents of the dust).
