1 Factum est autem anno nono regni ejus, mense decimo, decima die mensis, venit Nabuchodonosor rex Babylonis, ipse et omnis exercitus ejus in Jerusalem, et circumdederunt eam : et exstruxerunt in circuitu ejus munitiones.

Verse 1. Nevertheless when the corrupted church has no longer any conjunction with the Lord, because there are no longer any remains of faith and charity, the love of dominion becomes prevalent therein, and all falsities and evils thereof, so that it is beset on all sides by such evils and falsities.
