25 Thus I fell down before the LORD forty days and forty nights, as I fell down at the first; because the LORD had said he would destroy you.

Verse 25. Thus, again, the spiritual man was brought into a state of deep humiliation before the Lord by temptations both as to the affections and the understanding of truth, as on the former occasions; because it feared that the soul would be cut off from all conjunction with heaven and spiritual life,
