2 Samuel 22

Studie

1 And David spoke to Jehovah the words of this song, in the day that Jehovah rescued him from the palm of the hand of all his enemies, and from the palm of the hand of Saul.

2 And he said,
Jehovah is my Rock and my Bulwark and a Deliverer for me;

3 God is my Rock, in Him I will confide;
my Shield and the Horn of my Salvation;
my High··Tower, and my place··to··flee,
my Saviour; from violence Thou savest me.

4 I will call··on Jehovah who is to··be··praised;
and from my enemies I shall be saved.

5 For the breakers of death enclosed me,
the brooks of Belial alarmed me.

6 The cords of hell surrounded me,
the snares of death confronted me.

7 In my distress I called upon Jehovah,
and called unto my God;
and He heard my voice from His temple,
and my outcry in His ears.

8 And the land tottered and quaked,
the foundations of the heavens trembled,
and they tottered,
for He Himself was··incensed.

9 There went··up a smoke out of His nostrils,
and fire out of His mouth devoured;
coals burned from Him.

10 And He inclined the heavens and came··down;
and dense··darkness was under his feet.

11 And He rode upon a cherub and did fly;
and He was seen upon the wings of the wind.

12 And He put darkness for shelters all around Him,
a twining of waters, thick··clouds of the ethers.

13 From the brightness in··front··of Him
burned coals of fire.

14 Jehovah thundered from the heavens,
and the Most··High gave forth His voice.

15 And He sent··out arrows, and scattered them;
lightning, and routed them.

16 And the channels of the sea were seen,
the foundations of the world were revealed,
at the rebuke of Jehovah,
from the breath of the spirit of His nostrils.

17 He sent from on high, He took me,
He drew· me ·out of many waters.

18 He rescued me from my strong enemy,
from those who hated me;
for they were too obstinate for me.

19 They confronted me in the day of my downfall;
but Jehovah was a stay* for me.

20 And He brought· me ·out to a broad··place;
He set· me ·free, for He delighted in me.

21 Jehovah has recompensed me according to my justice;
according to the purity of my hands has He caused it to return unto me.

22 For I have kept the ways of Jehovah,
and have not acted··wickedly against my God.

23 For all His Judgments are before me;
and as for His statutes, I turned· not ·aside therefrom.

24 And I was perfect unto Him,
and I kept myself from my iniquity.

25 And Jehovah has returned to me according to my justice,
according to my purity before His eyes.

26 With the merciful one Thou wilt make··Thyself··merciful;
with the perfect hero, Thou wilt be perfect;

27 with the purified, Thou wilt purify Thyself;
and with the twisted Thou wilt struggle,

28 and the afflicted people Thou wilt save;
and Thine eyes are on the exalted, Thou wilt make· them ·low.

29 For Thou, Jehovah, art my lamp;
and Jehovah wilt brighten my darkness.

30 For by Thee I run by a troop;
by my God I leap a wall.

31 As for God, His way is perfect;
the sayings of Jehovah are refined;
He is a shield to all who confide in Him.

32 For who is God besides Jehovah?
and who is a Rock besides our God?

33 God is my Stronghold of force,
and He unbound the integrity of my way.

34 He disposes my feet as those of the deer,
and makes me to stand on my high··places.

35 He teaches my hands for the war;
and sets··down a bow of bronze in my arms.

36 And Thou hast given me the shield of Thy salvation,
and Thy meekness has made me great.

37 Thou hast enlarged my strides under me;
and my ankles falter not.

38 I will pursue my enemies and blot· them ·out,
and will not turn··back until they are all··consumed.

39 And I will consume· them ·all and strike them,
and they shall not arise;
and they shall fall under my feet.

40 And Thou wilt gird me with valor for the battle;
Thou wilt make them that rise··up against me to stoop under me.

41 And thou hast given me the neck of my enemies,
those who hate me, and I will cut· them ·away.

42 They shall look··around, but there is none to save;
to Jehovah, but He will not answer them.

43 And I will pound them as the dust of the earth;
as the mud of the streets I will make· them ·thin and spread· them ·out.

44 And Thou wilt deliver me from the strivings of the people.
Thou wilt keep me for a head of the nations;
a people whom I have not known shall serve me.

45 The sons of the foreigner shall deny themselves to me;
at the hearing of the ear they shall hearken to me.

46 The sons of the foreigner shall fade··away,
and shall gird themselves from their enclosures.

47 Jehovah lives; and blessed be my Rock;
and exalted be the God of the Rock of my salvation,

48 the God giving vengeance to me,
and He brings··down the peoples under me.

49 And brings· me ·forth from my enemies;
and exalts me above them that rise··up against me;
From the man of violence Thou rescuest me.

50 Therefore will I confess Thee, O Jehovah among the nations;
and sing··psalms to Thy name;

51 who makest··great the salvations of His king;
and doest mercy to His anointed,
to David and to his seed even··to eternity.
