4 He removed the high·​·places and broke the statues, and cut·​·off the grove; and beat·​·in·​·pieces the bronze serpent which Moses had made; for even·​·to those days it was that the sons of Israel did burn·​·incense to it; and he called it Nehushtan.

Verse 4. Also the imperfect affections of the natural man are removed, falsities internal and external are overcome, and the sensual mind is no longer allowed to have dominion through being misunderstood and abused, as happens in a corrupt state of the church, its true quality when separated from the higher life being clearly manifested, as natural affection only.
