Samuel 3

Studie

And the lad Samuel ministered unto Jehovah before Eli. And the word of Jehovah was precious in those days; there was no vision breaking··forth.

And it was, on that day, that Eli was lying··down in his place, and his eyes began to be dim, and he was· not ·able to see;

and the lamp of God was not··yet quenched, and Samuel was lying··down in the temple of Jehovah where the ark of God was;

that Jehovah called to Samuel; and he said, Behold me.

And he ran to Eli and said, Behold me, for thou didst call me. And he said, I called not; return, lie··down. And he went and lay··down.

And Jehovah called yet again, Samuel; and Samuel arose and went to Eli, and said, Behold me, for thou didst call me. And he said, I called not, my son; return, lie··down.

And Samuel did not··yet know Jehovah, and the word of Jehovah was not··yet revealed to him.

And Jehovah called Samuel again, the third time. And he arose and went to Eli and said, Behold me; for thou didst call me. And Eli perceived that Jehovah had called the lad.

And Eli said to Samuel, Go, lie··down; and it shall be, if He call to thee, then thou shalt say, Speak, Jehovah, for Thy servant hears. And Samuel went and lay··down in his place.

And Jehovah came and stood and called as at other times, Samuel! Samuel! And Samuel said, Speak; for Thy servant hears.

And Jehovah said to Samuel, Behold, I do a thing in Israel at which the two ears of everyone who hears it shall tingle.

In that day will I raise··up against Eli all that I have spoken concerning his house, beginning and completing.

And I have··told unto him, that I judge his house even··to eternity for the iniquity which he knows; because his sons made themselves vile and he restrained* them not.

And therefore have I promised unto the house of Eli, that the iniquity of the house of Eli shall not be atoned··for with sacrifice nor with gift··offering even··to eternity.

And Samuel lay until the morning, and opened the doors of the house of Jehovah. And Samuel feared to tell the vision to Eli.

And Eli called Samuel, and said, Samuel, my son; and he said, Behold me.

And he said, What is the word that He spoke to thee? I pray thee, conceal it not from me; God do so to thee and more also if thou conceal from me a word of all the words that He spoke to thee.

And Samuel told him all the words, and concealed not anything from him. And he said, It is Jehovah. What is good in His eyes, let Him do.

And Samuel grew··up, and Jehovah was with him, and did not let any of his words fall to the earth.

And all Israel, from Dan even to Beer-sheba, knew that Samuel was a faithful prophet* to Jehovah.

And Jehovah again appeared in Shiloh; for Jehovah revealed Himself to Samuel in Shiloh by the word of Jehovah.
