44 And the king said to▵ Shimei, Thou◦ knowest all the evil which thy heart knows, that thou didst to David my father; and Jehovah shall return thine evil upon thine own head.

Verse 44. Moreover the natural man, thus unregenerate, is conscious of its own evil love, and that it has averted itself from Divine Truth, on which account it is wholly self-condemned.
