15 And he said, Thou◦ knowest that the kingdom was mine, and that all Israel set their faces on me to be·​·king; and the kingdom has turned·​·around and has become my brother’s; for from Jehovah it was his.

Verse 15. From this it is perceived that self-love, from its nature, claims dominion, and had corrupted the spiritual state or church, which notwithstanding exalts celestial good, this being according to Divine Order from Divine Love.
