1 Ja Mooses läks Moabi lagendikelt üles Nebo mäele, Pisgaa tippu, mis on Jeeriko kohal, ja Issand näitas temale kogu maad: Gileadi kuni Daanini,

2 kogu Naftali, Efraimi ja Manasse maad, kogu Juuda maad kuni lääne mereni,

3 Lõunamaad ja Jordani piirkonda, Jeeriko orgu, Palmidelinna - kuni Soarini.

4 Ja Issand ütles temale: 'See on see maa, mille ma vandega tõotasin Aabrahamile, Iisakile ja Jaakobile, öeldes: Sinu soole ma annan selle. Ma olen lasknud sind vaadata oma silmaga, aga sinna sa ei lähe!'

5 Ja Issanda sulane Mooses suri seal Moabimaal Issanda sõna kohaselt.

6 Ja ta mattis tema orgu Moabimaal, Beet-Peori kohale, aga tänapäevani ei tea ükski tema hauda.

7 Ja Mooses oli surres sada kakskümmend aastat vana; ta silm ei olnud tuhmunud ega ramm raugenud.

8 Ja Iisraeli lapsed nutsid Moosest Moabi lagendikel kolmkümmend päeva, siis alles lakkasid nutupäevad - lein Moosese pärast.

9 Ja Joosua, Nuuni poeg, oli täis tarkuse vaimu, sest Mooses oli pannud oma käed ta peale; ja Iisraeli lapsed kuulasid teda ning tegid, nagu Issand oli Moosesele käsu andnud.

10 Aga Iisraelis ei tõusnud enam niisugust prohvetit nagu Mooses, keda Issand tundis palgest palgesse,

11 kõigi tunnustähtede ja imetegude poolest, millega Issand teda läkitas, et ta teeks neid Egiptusemaal vaaraole ja kõigile ta sulastele ja kogu ta maale,

12 kõige selle vägeva käe poolest ja kõige selle suure hirmu poolest, mille Mooses tekitas kogu Iisraeli silma ees.

Explanation of Deuteronomy 34

Verses 1-4. By Divine truth the soul gains a perception of the heavenly life before its acquisition.

Verses 5-6. A new state in which the acquisition of truth ceases to be of primary importance in the soul.

Verse 7. Truths being now in their fullness.

Verses 8-9. Anxiety of mind and change of state in which an ardent warfare against evil takes the place of the acquisition of truth.

Verses 10-12. There is no teacher for the regenerating like Divine truth from the Word.
