1 拉结见自己没有给雅各生孩子,就嫉妒她的姊姊,对雅各:“你要给我儿子,不然,我要死了。”

2 雅各就向拉结生气,:“使你不能生育的是,我能代替他吗?”

3 拉结:“我的婢女辟拉在这里,你可以与她亲近,使她生子归我,我就可以从她得到孩子。”

4 于是,拉结把自己的婢女辟拉雅各为妾,雅各就与她亲近。

5 辟拉怀孕,给雅各生了一个儿子

6 拉结:“为我伸了冤,也垂了我的声音,赐我一个儿子。”所以他起名但。

7 拉结的使女辟拉又怀孕,给雅各生了第二个儿子

8 拉结:“我与姊姊大大地相争,我得胜了。”于是给孩子起名拿弗他利。

9 利亚见自己停止生育,就把她的婢女悉帕雅各为妾。

10 利亚的婢女悉帕给雅各生了一个儿子

11 利亚:“我真幸运。”给他起名迦得。

12 利亚的婢女悉帕又给雅各生了第二个儿子

13 利亚:“我真有福气,众女子都要称我是有福的。”于是给孩子起名亚设。

14 到了收割麦子的时候,流本出去,在田间到了一些风茄,就拿母亲利亚。拉结对利亚:“请你把你儿子的风茄分一些我。”

15 利亚回答拉结:“你夺去了我的丈夫,还算小事吗?你还要夺去我儿子的风茄吗?”拉结:“好吧,今夜就让他与你同睡,来交换你儿子的风茄。”

16 到了晚上雅各从田间回,利亚出去迎接他,:“你要与我亲近,因为我实在用我儿子的风茄把你雇下了。”那一夜,雅各就与利亚同睡。

17 了利亚的祷告,利亚就怀孕,给雅各生了第五个儿子

18 利亚:“了我酬报,因为我把我的婢女了我的丈夫。”于是孩子起名以萨迦。

19 利亚又怀孕,给雅各生了第六儿子

20 利亚:“把美的礼物送了给我,这一次我的丈夫要抬举我了,因为我给他生了儿子。”于是给孩子起名西布伦。

21 来利亚又生了一个女儿,给她起名底拿。

22 顾念拉结,垂了她的祷告,使她能生育。

23 拉结就怀孕,生了一个儿子:“把我的耻辱除去了。”

24 于是给孩子起名约瑟,:“愿耶和华再给我一个儿子。”

25 雅各拉班订定工价拉结生了约瑟以后,雅各拉班:“请你让我走吧,我好回到自己的地方,自己的故乡去。

26 请你把我服事你所得的妻子和儿女都我,让我回去;我怎样服事了你,你是知道的。”

27 拉班对他:“我若蒙你赏脸,请你不要走,因为我得了神旨,知道耶和华赐福给我,是因你的缘故。”

28 他又:“请你定你的工资吧,我必你。”

29 雅各对拉班:“我怎样服事了你,你的牲畜在我手里情形怎样,你是知道的。

30 我没来以前,你所有的很少,现在却大大地增加了;耶和华随着我的踪赐福给你。现在,我什么时候才能兴家立业呢?”

31 拉班问:“我该你什么?”雅各回答:“你什么也不必我;只要你答应我这一件事,我就继续牧放看守你的羊群

32 今天我要走遍你的羊群,凡有点的、黑色的绵和有点的山羊,都挑出来,作为我的工资。

33 日后你查看我的工资的时候,我好证明我的公道。凡在我手里没有点的山羊,或不是黑色的绵羊,都算是我的。”

34 拉班回答:“好吧,就照你的去作。”

35 当日,拉班把有条纹和有点的公山羊、有点和有白纹的母山羊,以及所有黑色的绵羊,都挑出来交在自己的众子里。

36 又使自己和雅各之间相距有的路程。雅各就牧放拉班羊群

37 雅各使用诡计致富雅各拿杨树、杏树和枫树的嫩枝子,把树皮剥成白色的条纹,使枝子露出白的部分来。

38 然后把剥了皮的枝子插在沟和里,枝子正对着羊群羊群的时候,就彼此交配。

39 羊群对着枝子交配,就生下有条纹和有点的小来。

40 雅各羔分别出来,使拉班的,对着这些有条纹的和所有黑色的。他为自己另组羊群,不把它们放在拉班的羊群中。

41 到了肥壮的羊群要交配的时候,雅各就在羊群的面前把枝子插在水沟里,使它们在枝子中间彼此交配。

42 但当瘦弱的羊群交配的时候,雅各就不插枝子。这样,瘦弱的就归拉班,肥壮的就归雅各

43 于是,雅各变成非常富有,拥有很多羊群、仆婢、骆驼
