10 Thou hast indeed smitten Edom, and thy heart hath lifted thee up: glory thereof, and abide at home; for why shouldest thou meddle to [thy] hurt, that thou shouldest fall, even thou, and Judah with thee?

Verse 10. And because this is permitted, and the natural man therefore is repressed, self-love still further elevates itself with a view to dominion also over the spiritual things of the church; but self-love is not allowed to destroy the intellectual life of man, while the latter may certainly overcome the former.
