Commentary on this verse

By Alexander Payne

Verse 30. Beware lest you profane the love of good, or violate the sacred truths whereby you were born again. [Note.— "The profanation of good is the affection of evils conjoined to truths, and the profanation of truths is the conjunction of truths with falses " (Arcana Coelestia 10652). To believe the truth and afterwards to deny it; or to believe and know what is right and yet to do what is evil; or to act apparently sincerely and well for the sake of an evil end, is profanation.]
