17 I cast the tables out of my hands, and broke them in your sight.

Verse 17. Thus there is no agreement between the perception of what is good and true given to the spiritual man, and the things loved by the natural man; the perverted state of the latter deprives the spiritual mind of the power to will good and understand truth, and this rupture between heaven and the outer life is made evident even to the natural man himself.
