1. A SPECIMEN AND SKETCH1
A SHORT VERSION OF THE DOCTRINE OF THE NEW CHURCH
1. The churches that were separated from the Roman Catholic Church by the Reformation in Germany, Hungary, Poland, Sweden, Denmark, England, and Holland differ from one another in various ways, but they all agree upon the articles concerning a Trinity of Persons in the Divinity, the origin of sin from Adam, the imputation of Christ's merit, and justification by faith alone.
1. [This short version of the Doctrines of the New Church is as strong and uncompromising as anything Swedenborg ever penned. It is almost certain that most of the thirty-three paragraphs were used to form the structure of the small work SUMMARIA EXPOSITIO DOCTRINAE, published in 1769. Again, the autograph is very rough and difficult to read.]
