Therefore will the Lord himself give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and shall bring forth a son, and call his name Immanuel.

Butter and honey shall he eat, that he may know to refuse the evil, and to choose the good.
16
For before the child knoweth to refuse the evil and to choose the good, the land whose two kings thou fearest shall be forsaken.

The Old Testament is full of prophecies telling us that God is going to be born into the world. Just as the Israelites needed hope, so do we. God provides hope to all of His people, no matter how dark, we can know better times are ahead.
